Trojans Win: 3 - 1
Clawson defeated Lamphere in four sets (25-12, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17) on Tuesday, solidifying its place as the top team in the MAC Silver.
Aliyah Vesper led the Trojans with 13 kills, 15 digs and nine aces. Charlie Verner had 19 kills and 13 digs, and Jillian Liford had seven kills and six blocks.
Ava LaMotte had 16 digs and five aces, and Natty Lertkasem had nine digs. Renata Carlesimo had 24 assists and seven digs, and Anna Smith had 23 assists and four digs.
Gabrielle Kalcec had three kills and eight blocks, and Hayley Kauffman had six kills and five blocks.
Clawson dominated the first set, starting the match up 8-1 to force a Lamphere timeout. That lead continued to build up to a 15 point advantage at 21-6, with Verner netting seven of her 19 total kills in the first set to help the Trojans to a 25-12 win.
The Trojans then shot out to another big lead in the second set behind Vesper's serving to go up 10-1. Lamphere then quickly responded to tie it at 10-10. After coming out of a timeout, Clawson settled down to regain the lead at 19-12. However, Lamphere once again turned the tables to tie it at 23-23, and then earned two aces to take the second set 25-23 to even up the match.
The third set was played more evenly as neither team could build a lead larger than three points, until a tip kill from Kauffman gave Clawson the 21-17 edge. The Trojans then held Lamphere at arm's length, and Vesper scored Clawson's final two points of the set with kills, winning the third set for the Trojans at 25-21.
That back-and-forth play carried over to the fourth set, as Clawson went up 8-4 before Lamphere rallied to a 10-8 lead. Clawson later took advantage of a Lamphere error to tie it at 14-14 with LaMotte stepping up to the service line. During her seven-point scoring run, which included two aces, Kauffman earned a kill, Liford scored a kill, and the two combined for a clutch block. The momentum favored Clawson at this stage, and the set ended with a Kauffman kill to make it 25-17.
Clawson wraps up the regular season with an 18-6 overall record, and finished first in the MAC Silver at 9-1.

In the third, Clawson built up a nine point lead at 21-12, but costly errors on both offense and defense allowed Mott to inch closer. The Trojans were looking at match point with a 24-22 lead, but Mott put together back-to-back kills to tie the game, then forced two more errors to win the third set 26-24.
The two teams played relatively even in the fourth, and Clawson saw its biggest lead at 20-15 after a block by Kauffman. Mott fought back hard, thanks in part to strong plays from their outside hitter. The Trojans tried to keep them in check, but two hitting errors and one dig error allowed Mott the 25-23 win in the fourth to even the match at 2-2.
Clawson retaliated early in the fifth set, jumping out to a 7-3 lead and forcing a timeout. That lead was extended to 9-3, but Mott pushed back to a 10-10 tie. Ten more very intense points played out, but Mott would be the team to emerge with a 16-14 win in the fifth to complete the comeback.

Clawson carried that momentum into the fourth set and never relinquished control. The Trojans would lead by as many as 10 points before Lamphere inched closer at 19-15. But after that, Clawson would give up only one more point, and Verner hit an attack down the line for the match-winning kill.
